Why is it that some affiliate programs offer you 50% commission or greater to promote their products or services and others give you a meager 5% affiliate commission?

As an affiliate marketer you're always on the hunt for the best products with high commissions for affiliates. But can you guarantee the product is high quality just because the commission is great?

Probably not, not unless you test it, which is what all affiliates should do though many of them do not. Those that do however, buy the product through their own affiliate link in order to get the product at a discount. Is this legal?

Well, many merchants fail to ban their affiliates from doing so, thus affiliates feel no reason to feel guilty. After all they need to test the product in order to promote it, and the merchant did make a sale.

There's a battle going on between merchants and affiliates. Its an unspoken one and has, for sometime, been kept very civil for quite some time, but I feel that everyone is beginning to lose their patience.

Offering high commissions for affiliates was a unique selling point a few years ago. If a merchant wanted to have their product stand out they told their affiliates that they would receive a commission of 50, 65, or in many cases now 75 percent on commission.

Affiliates took to this like ducks to water and merchants soon found that in order to get affiliates they had to offer high commissions. It became less of an option and more of a required sales strategy.

However, offering high commissions for affiliates did not urge the affiliates to work any harder to sell the products. The 20/80 rule still exists- that is 20 percent of your affiliates are taking in 80 percent of the commissions. Some say it's even less than that, the number seems closer to six percent. What are all the other affiliates doing? Are they lazy or just inexperienced?

Products with high commissions are still high end products and high end products are hard to sell. Many affiliate marketers have little or no sales experience. Thus convincing someone that your 97 dollar ebook is like sliced bread (they cant live without it) will be challenging.

Some may opt for seedy tactics like spamming or stealing commissions to make sales. Should merchants still reward them for this? Does someone deserve a 50% commission to tarnish your name and put your business on the line?

Should merchants lower the commissions? By doing this, they may not be able to attract the good marketers out there. Savvy salespeople are going to want to be heavily rewarded for the efforts they are putting into sending you traffic, building your list, and creating sales.

What about all the merchants out there that can not afford to give their affiliates 65% commission, or feel no need to. Is it fair for a merchant to offer a high commissions for affiliates on well priced product that is an easy sell?

Are we at a crossroad? The internet has made it difficult to go backwards; merchants can not suddenly decide to offer 40% as the new high commission payout. Likewise affiliates can not expect merchants to make the selling process easier so they can all be top sellers.

What do we do? Do we let things be and have each side quietly grumble to themselves? Merchants on one side wishing they didnt have to offer so much for a product that took them months to create, and affiliates on the other hoping that the commission rate will go up even more since they are pouring themselves into a product that they didnt create.

Is there a resolution? We can't make both parties happy, can we?

A majority of network marketing companies like Market America pass off a very dangerous half-truth to their distributors. It goes something like this, "Anyone can do this business!" This idea is also implied in blanket statements like this one, "Make $20,000 a month in just 2 years!" This would lead any potential Market America distributor to believe that in just two years, they can go from zero to hero, regardless of their experience, skill sets, and financial status.

The simple fact of the matter is this, not all network marketers are created equal. All Market America distributors enter the race at different starting points, and some are definitely closer to the finish line than others. Some people have enormous head starts on others in terms of experience, skills, time, and money, and just because some people were able to successfully hit $20,000 a month in just two years doesn't mean that everyone will accomplish this.

The problem lies with Market America pumping up their distributors to believe that anyone can immediately jump right into their business and achieve the same results as the mlm gurus. What these Market America newbies aren't told by their uplines, sponsors, or companies, is that often times the big, top money earners move from company to company. When this occurs, they pile all of their experience, their marketing system, their huge guru status, as well as a big portion of their downline into a moving van and take everything with them. This makes it very easy for them to start earning massive commission checks almost immediately with their new mlm company.

And all the poor Market America beginners hear about is how this brand new, wet behind the ears, distributor has soared from making nothing to $30,000 a month in less than six months time, and how they can do it too! They fail to realize that behind this person's rapid rise to mlm stardom is years of experience, thousands of dollars in expenses, countless hours of hard work, and often times extensive backgrounds in sales and marketing.

For example, what if someone like a physical therapist, a policeman, a window washer, or a construction worker wants to start their own home based business? Do you think they'll see the same kind of results in the same time period as the successful network marketing professional? I highly doubt it. It's really absurd to think that everyone in network marketing is on a level playing field, because this simply isn't the case.

There are several factors that contribute to how fast brand-new Market America reps can start making the big bucks, with the first one being skills. The most important skills that a newbie can master are sales skills. Because when distributors are involved with Market America they're involved with selling things to people. Network marketing and sales go hand in hand, contrary to what your upline and company might have you believing. Sales skills can definitely be learned by anyone who wants to. It's not a magic ability that people are born with.

The second factor is the amount of time they can put into their business. To be successful, Market America distributors need to invest at least 8-10 hours of pure action time every week. This is the bare minimum! It would be better if they could spend 12-15 hours a week, but everyone's situation is different. Some successful distributors don't have day jobs, so they can work on their business full time, while others have to go to work everyday. Ultimately it comes down to how well distributors manage their time.

The third factor is the amount of money that can be spent on their business. Often times Market America misleads their distributors by telling them that all they'll need to pay for is the initial start-up fee, and their mandatory monthly product orders. (Let's not forget about the national conventions too!) They fail to teach them that an ongoing monthly marketing budget is absolutely essential for running their business at full potential.

They will need this money to generate qualified Market America leads, or prospects to help grow their business. There are really only two ways for distributors to obtain their own leads, they can generate them using their own advertising, or they can pay someone to do this for them. Ultimately they should strive to generate their own Market America leads, but purchasing them from someone is a really quick way to get started. Good leads are the lifeblood of any successful Market America business, and without them even the best distributors will fail.

When you arrive at a customer's home, you'll just walk over and clean the area of the yard in an orderly fashion. You can start at one end and walk all the way across to the other, picking up dog pooh along the way over about a 6-foot area around you. Then, when you get to the other side of the yard, move over 6 feet and walk back across. Just do that until you cover the whole yard. Really Easy!

The first time you service a customer's yard you'll probably pick up more dog pooh than you will when you come back the next time. In other words, after you get the "pooh situation" under control it'll be quicker and easier to maintain the situation and you can move "on and off" a location more quickly. That's important because you'll want to build up your customer base until you're doing say 12 to 15 a day.

What To Charge And How Often To Service A Customer:
Other people doing this are charging $10 to $20 dollars or more per visit and going by a customer's location once or twice a week, some maybe even every day. Just work it out with the customer.

You'll base your fee on the size and number of pets your customer has, the size of the area you'll be cleaning, the time it takes you to do it, and your traveling expenses. Once you start, you'll quickly learn how to "size up" a potential job so the "price to cost" ratio is just right for you to make it a profitable account.

Imagine if you had 30 customers paying you $10 to $40 dollars a week and it only takes you 3 days a week to provide the service!

How To Market Your New Business:
To market your new business you could simply put an ad in your local newspaper. You could also make up some flyers and put them up on bulletin boards at the various businesses in your area that have one. Don't forget to go by the local veterinarians and kennels too, lots of them have bulletin boards people use when wanting to buy and sell pets. Just ask them to let you put your flyer there as well. You could even have some inexpensive signs made and place them around your area on telephone poles, street corners, etc. and don't forget to make up some business cards and pass them out to everyone you know and meet who has a pet.

In addition, one more thing that's very important, you should always be friendly, respectable, respectful, and never fail to do a good job for your customers. When you conduct yourself that way people will like you and tell their friends and "word of mouth" advertising is by far the most effective.

More Possibilities:
Remember, always do a good job for your customer's and then you'll have opportunities to offer them ADDITIONAL services. They may hire you to mow and maintain their yard, do a landscaping job, or clean out and haul off the stuff in their garage. In the latter case, you might get many items you can sell to resale shops, sell at a garage sale, or even get some things you can sell on EBay.

Most mlm companies today would have their distributors believe that they're not in the "sales" business. Since most people cringe at the very thought of selling, these companies like Melaleuca sugarcoat the idea for them by saying, "It's not selling, it's sharing!" They make it sound like child's play, you know a cakewalk, something so simple and easy that anyone can do it. This type of thinking has a couple very harsh consequences for Melaleuca distributors.

They don't want to see their distributors (and customers) scared away by telling them this one, simple, inconvenient and uncomfortable fact. If you are in network marketing you are in sales!

If you want to be a successful Melaleuca distributor you need to understand this. Selling is not sharing and sharing is not selling. Sharing is what pre-schoolers do. I know what you're thinking right now. "But I thought word of mouth advertising was the most powerful form of advertising out there?" My answer is yes and no. Yes, people's personal recommendations can be very powerful when they don't have a financial interest involved. When potential customers or prospects realize that distributors are making money out of the deal, their guard immediately goes up. Because an incentivized referral is completely different than an unbiased, third party opinion.

If you remember just one thing from this article, please let this next single point be it. To be successful in Melaleuca and network marketing in general, you have to learn effective sales skills and techniques. Realizing this is the first critical step towards retail success with them. You have to understand the sales process and what really motivates people. What makes them get out of bed in the morning? What keeps them awake at night? When it comes to selling, too much attention is paid to the product itself, rather than the customer who is doing the buying. Because chances are your prospect or customer doesn't really care about helping you out, they want to know what's in it for them.

A truly successful salesman is the one who can make the connection between their prospect's true desires and how their product/service will fulfill those desires. If the original domain registrant fails to pay for the renewal fee of his online business, the domain expires and is set up for sale. Small-scale home business ventures can then avail of these for only the price of a yearly domain subscription; which is also the same price for a new domain name.

Often, registrants allow their domains to expire because:

* The registrant lost interest in continuing the domain.
* The registrant has been too pre-occupied to keep the domain running.

Nonetheless, these advantages are in no way indications that you have smooth sailing from then on. A book is not only as good as its cover, but should also be as good as the reputation of the author and the marketing behind it.

Also, you need to market and advertise your site still, despite your domains previous traffic volume. When I thought how to start my home business, I did not believe how those claims about the quickness can be true. I was lucky to understand the key point in the start. I said to myself: find out a 100 % sure and proven affiliate program, which gives me everything I need.
